Call for Submissions

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

General Information

Turnpike Magazine is focused on diverging from the norm by theme and voice. While all submissions will be reviewed, special consideration will be granted to pieces that explore positivity, gratitude, and other uplifting themes, as well as pieces written by underrepresented voices. We are currently accepting submissions for our January issue, and the deadline is February 28th at 11:59PM!

Diversity Statement

Turnpike Magazine greatly values diversity, and affirms that all writers and artists will be valued regardless of race, creed, sex, gender, pronouns, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or any other identity group. Harmful behavior and language will not be tolerated.


HOW TO SUBMIT:

Poetry, Fiction, Creative Nonfiction

Send an email to turnpikemagazine@gmail.com with the subject, “[Your Name], [Your Genre], Submission.” Attach a word document (.docx) of your selected piece(s) to the email.

Additionally, please include the following information in your message:

  • Author’s publishing name
  • Pronouns (if comfortable sharing)
  • Email and phone number
  • Brief author bio
    • 1-2 sentences
    • Written in third person
  • Title of piece(s)
  • Genre of piece(s)

Poetry

  • Up to five poems –and
  • Up to 8 pages of text

Creative Nonfiction

  • Up to 2,000 words –or
  • Up to 5 full pages

Fiction

  • Up to 2,000 words –or
  • Up to 5 full pages

Visual Art

Send an email to turnpikemagazine@gmail.com with the subject, “[Your Name], Art Submission.” Attach an image (.jpeg) of your selected piece(s) to the email.

Additionally, please include the following information in your message:

  • Artist’s publishing name
  • Pronouns (if comfortable sharing)
  • Email and phone number
  • Brief artist bio
    • 1-2 sentences
    • Written in third person
  • Title of piece(s)
  • Medium and dimensions of piece(s)
    • Not needed for digital photos

Any Visual Art

  • Up to 5 pieces –or
  • 5 images
